Lindsay DeHartchuck

Lindsay DeHartchuck is a senior technical assistance consultant in literacy education at the American Institutes for Research, where she partners with school systems and state education agencies to adopt and strengthen evidence-based literacy practices across assessment, curriculum and instruction, and professional learning. Her career spans classroom teaching, instructional coaching, curriculum design, and school-systems leadership in the United States and internationally. She began as a special education teacher in the District of Columbia Public Schools and went on to serve as the Director of Early and Elementary Literacy and Senior Director of Diverse Learners at KIPP Foundation.

Lindsay is driven by the belief that every child should have access to instruction and resources that helps them “crack the code” and become life-long readers and writers. Under her leadership at KIPP, literacy growth reversed the opportunity gap between K-2 KIPP students and a nationally representative sample.

A lifelong learner, Lindsay holds a B.A. in political science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and an M.A. in early childhood special education from the George Washington University. She is a doctoral candidate in curriculum and instruction (reading/literacy) at the University of Virginia.
